The Indiana Land Title Association (ILTA) was formed in 1907. Although membership is available to individuals, most members are companies involved in the production and evaluation of real estate title information. These companies may be title insurance underwriting companies of national or international scope or closely held local businesses. Membership also includes attorneys, lenders and surveyors. The over 300 members represent approximately 2,000 or more citizens of Indiana employed and concerned about the real estate industry.
The primary purpose of the Association involves the education of its membership. The Association develops and sponsors educational seminars every year. Most seminars qualify for both Continuing Insurance Education and Continuing Legal Education. The Association also maintains and publishes a compendium of real estate law known as the ILTA Handbook which is updated annually. The Association is an IRS 501[c][6] not for profit corporation. The Association has an established Indiana political action committee, ITPAC, as well as maintains an affiliation with a national political action committee (TIPAC) through the American Land Title Association.
